MASTER CRAFTSMAN

Since 2017, Behind the Hedges' "Master Craftsman" series, sponsored by Telemark, has taken a deep dive into the lives, work and process of some of the East End's most talented and creative artisans. The series, which was awarded third place for Best Column at the 2019 NY Press Association Better Newspaper Contest, covers a wide array of craftspeople from the Hamptons and North Fork, including intimate photos of their workshops and studios. Master Craftsman has featured everyone from a local electrician, to a muralist, book binder, lighting and furniture designers, faux finisher, metalworkers, ceramicists, woodworkers, a machinist, knife maker, surfboard fabricator, picture framer, art conservator and many more.
