HISTORY

The millwork shop originated in founder, Frank Dalene’s basement in response to a local custom cabinet shop who couldn’t keep their commitment on the fabrication and installation of kitchen cabinets. That threatened to delay the completion date on a project. Frank who apprenticed under his father and partner, two Norwegian Craftsmen set up shop, fabricated and installed the kitchen cabinets, countertops and other built-ins, the project was completed on time, the quality of work was unsurpassed. It was this lesson learned, the need to control both time and quality in some of the finest architectural millwork, cabinetry and built-ins fabricated in the Hamptons that separated Telemark from its competitors.

In 1991, Roy and Frank purchased an 18,000 square foot building in Bridgehampton that was a former Potato Packing House and converted it into office space with generous space for the ultimate, handcrafted, high quality, super-custom millwork shop. There still is no automated machinery in the shop, every piece is handcrafted to the highest standards capable with human hands. Many homes Telemark builds are original designs with nothing bought off a shelf, everything is custom, handmade with special attention to details. This has been the foundation of Telemark’s reputation for the finest craftsmanship in our market.
